Abstract

The pandemic has posed a significantly complex challenge for political leaders battling to tackle the twin crises of Covid-19 by formulating and implementing policies that could achieve the interconnected goals of managing economic crisis and health recovery. The study aims to give an overview of Pakistan’s Response to Covid-19, and explain its policies with regard to three indicators being studied which include the economic response, health system policies and lockdown measures. This explanatory–cum–descriptive research study uncovers the factors that have helped Pakistan fare better in exhibiting effective damage control and management of the pandemic, and that may help the states redirect their efforts to address similar crises in the future by working on limiting the constraining forces and bolstering the facilitating ones.
